How to Take Theolair
The doses of Theolair are determined by health care providers after considering a few necessary factors. These factors include:
i) The age of the patient
ii) Whether the patient has any other health disorder
iii) The list of medications the patient is already taking
The other instruction the doctors give while suggesting the doses of Theolair is that one should never increase or decrease the prescribed dose without consulting the doctor.
As the rate of theophylline clearance and absorption vary from one patient to the other, the suggested doses are also different. The Theolair tablets are available in strengths of 125 mg and 250 mg. Here are the general doses of the medicine discussed:
1) For kids weighing less than 45 Kg, the initial dose is 300 mg per day (divided in doses after every four to six hours). Then after three days, if the medicine is well tolerated the daily dose in increased to 400 mg per day (divided in doses after every four to six hours). After waiting for three more days the dose becomes 600 mg a day (divided in doses after every four to six hours).
2) For kids and adults weighing more than 45 Kg the starting dose is 300 mg every day divided in doses after every six to eight hours. The doses is first increased to 400 mg and then to 600 mg per day and is suggested to be taken dividing it into doses after every six to eight hours.
