How to Take Singulair Granules
Singulair granules are primarily used for the treatment of asthma and allergies in children. A packet of 4mg of oral granules is the recommended dose for people between the ages of 6 months to 5 years. Among these age groups, infants between 6 months and 23 months of age are allowed to take only this granule form, not the chewable or film coated tablet.
Singulair granules are available in individual packets, and each packet contains 4 mg of the dose. The packets should be kept intact until it is required for use. It is important to follow the instructions as written on the label of the medication and also as directed by the healthcare provider.
Before giving the medication to a child, it needs to be mixed with some approved soft foods, such as ice cream, rice, mashed carrots or applesauce. However, if any amount of food is left over, it must be discarded immediately as it cannot be used for further consumption.
Singulair granules can also be mixed with milk or breast milk and fed to the child. In this case, it is important to maintain the room temperature. Any unused portion of the packet of these granules must be discarded.
